How it all began
MMS users regularly complained about the inconvenient and outdated interface, and the lack of clear visualization of processes caused many difficulties and slowed down team work. The system was perceived by employees more as an inconvenient necessity than a useful tool.
What tasks were before me
The main goal was to completely update the interface and make the system convenient and understandable for all users, while minimally impacting their daily work. It was important to implement a UI kit for design consistency and to create a process map for easy navigation and visualization of the connections between elements.
What exactly did I do?
At the beginning of my work, I conducted 20 in-depth interviews with users in different roles to thoroughly understand their needs and problems. I also studied analogs and competitors to gather best practices in the design of similar systems.
Based on this data, I prepared concepts and low-fidelity prototypes of the future interface and developed the OKO DS UI kit based on Material UI. At the same time, I created an interactive process map using React-flow, so users could visually see all stages of working with models and easily navigate between them.
Thanks to active testing and regular feedback, I gradually updated the sections of the system (main page, summary registry, model cards) and successfully integrated the process map into the overall UX flow.
The results of my work
After the redesign, the customer satisfaction index (CSI) rose from 69% to 79%, and the daily active users (DAU) increased by 24%. Users noted a significant improvement in convenience and ease of use.
The interactive process map improved navigation, allowed for quicker orientation within the system structure, and saved employees' working time.
What important things have I taken away for myself
The main lesson of this project is that gradual changes and constant feedback make large-scale redesigns comfortable for users and significantly increase the chances of a successful outcome. Visualization tools and clear metrics are key elements that affect user engagement.
I am proud of this project — we not only updated the interface, but really simplified the work for hundreds of employees, making MMS an effective and pleasant tool.
